Explainer video and animation: what does a video cost, and when is it worth it?

An animated video sits at around 2,500–3,500 € in the Business tier, including concept, script, voice-over and edit. It is worth doing wherever an explanation would otherwise take three paragraphs nobody reads: on the home page, at a trade fair stand, in internal training. You get it cut and finished, landscape for the web and vertical for social.

What you get

Concept and script first — that is where it is decided whether the video explains something or is merely pretty. Then animation, voice-over and edit, matched to the design of the rest of your appearance. At the end you have the cuts you actually need, not one file you are supposed to do something with yourself.

What it is worth doing for

For anything that needs explaining: a product you have to see, a process with several steps, a service nobody googles because they do not know the term. For pure image films without a message it rarely pays off — then the money is better placed in the site itself, and we say so beforehand.

A note on funding

Video is not eligible under the Austrian programmes — not even as part of a larger project. The configurator deducts it automatically rather than showing funding that would later be struck out. What is actually open is in the funding guide.

Ranges for the Business tier, calculated by the price configurator — the same calculation you can run yourself. Every price includes a base fee for setup, project management and handover. The Premium tier sits above this. Each line is one building block — combining several, a shop on top of a business website for instance, lands higher; the configurator works out the combination. All amounts shown are final: exempt from VAT under § 6 (1) 27 of the Austrian VAT Act (small business scheme).

Questions about this service

Is the voice human or generated?

Both are possible, and you decide. A synthetic voice is cheaper and immediately available in many languages; a real speaker usually sounds better in advertising. What was used is stated in the quote — we do not sell an AI voice as a voice actor.

Can I change the video myself later?

Small text changes yes, if you order it that way: you then get the project files and a short briefing. The more common route is a re-order — a new language version or a different cut costs a fraction of the first video, because concept and animation already exist.
